Metric is proud to announce that it been selected as the general contractor for the Fisher House in West Roxbury, MA. A Fisher House™ is “a home away from home” for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The homes are normally located within walking distance of the treatment facility.

The Fisher House™ program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America’s military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House™ Foundation donates “comfort homes,” built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times – during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

I was told that a Fisher House is to be built in Wisconsin and that the Wisconsin site is on the short list. Could you tell me where Wisconsin is on the proposed list for a Fisher House. Thank You.

I am on the board of Fisher House and will find out about Wisconsin asap and get back to the Metric site with the answer. There is an enormous about of pressure to build more Fisher Houses as the number of returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans return to the us and seek treatment at their local VA facilities. And at the moment we have a number of Fisher Houses undercontruction. The really great news is that Metric Construction is building the homes and that means they will be completed on time, on budget and will reflect the quality that Zach Fisher and his wife, Elizabeth strived to achieve.
