The following is an excerpt of a press release from The Boathouse, detailing the features and ameneties of these exceptional projects.
It is our great pleasure to introduce you to an exceptional new club on Martha’s Vineyard called The Boathouse … a club which holds a special affinity for the Vineyard’s way of life. The club had its initial opening in June of 2008 and will have its Grand Opening in the summer of 2009.
The Boathouse Club is the place to gather with family and friends. Whether it’s for dining overlooking Edgartown’s historic harbor, working out in our unequaled fitness facility, playing tennis, swimming in the heated pools, or simply relaxing in the spa, the Club enhances and augments the daily life that summer and year-round residents enjoy on Martha’s Vineyard.
The Boathouse has both a harborside facility in Edgartown and a Field Club a short distance away. Located at the base of Main Street on the water in Edgartown, members enjoy fine dining in our casually elegant restaurant. Apropos of the nautical heritage of Edgartown, the club has seven classic boats for members to enjoy effortless boating around the Vineyard and surrounding waters. Boats can be reserved for two hour sunset cruises, half-day or full-day outings and include USCG licensed captains and come stocked with beer, wine and soft drinks for a fun relaxing day on the water. When dining or using the club’s amenities, members will also enjoy the convenience of parking in our downtown member’s parking lot.
Less than two miles away in Katama, members enjoy the old-world charm of a traditional Field Club, featuring the finest in modern facilities and conveniences. In addition to eight tennis courts – seven Har-Tru and one natural grass – the club has a regulation croquet court and areas dedicated to badminton, bocce ball and other lawn games for family members of all ages. The Tennis Center has a full schedule of adult and junior tennis programs throughout the summer as well as weekly social events and tournaments. At the children’s Activities Club, children enjoy summer programs with our experienced camp counselors along with movie nights, swimming lessons, art and craft days, cultural enrichment and many other activities designed for children to have fun, learn and meet other children of their age.
The 14,000 sq. ft. Wellness building includes a state-of-the-art Fitness Center on the first floor and an international singles squash court and luxurious Spa on the lower level. The Fitness Center offers personal trainers and the very latest equipment for strength training and cardiovascular exercise as well as a 1200 sq. ft. exercise room for daily scheduled classes. The spa has eight treatment rooms- three with private gardens- men’s and women’s locker rooms with saunas, steam rooms and a beautiful outdoor lounge areas with Jacuzzis and comfortable lounge chairs.
The Clubhouse has a restaurant and bar, a well as a Great Room for parties, special events and club activities. The restaurant offers casual indoor dining, outdoor dining on the patio overlooking the pool and a convenient walk up window.
The pool complex will have three heated pools. An adult lap/fitness pool is located next to the fitness facilities for members who like to swim laps as part of their work-out program. The main pool, with a “beach entry” feature, is surrounded by a bluestone deck and an abundance of chaise lounge chairs and individual cabanas for privacy or relaxing out of the sun. There is also a separate kiddy pool with a play area for the younger children. Members visiting the pools have the convenience of a separate bathhouse with men’s and women’s changing facilities, showers and rest rooms.
